Privacy Policy

The Lab for Radical Museum Futures (“the Lab,” “we”) is an independent practice based in Washington, DC. This page explains what information we collect when you visit radicalmuseumfutures.com, why we collect it, and what choices you have. We’ve tried to keep it short and plain.
The short version
Our analytics tool, PostHog, runs without cookies and does not store anything in your browser.
Our website host, Squarespace, may set its own cookies for site function and analytics (see Hosting and cookies below).
We do not sell your personal information.
If you contact us or join our community list, we use what you send to reply or to send occasional emails.
Analytics
We use PostHog to understand how people use this site: which pages are visited, how long visitors stay, which links and buttons are clicked, how quickly pages load, what kind of browser or device is used, and which site referred the visit.
We run PostHog in cookieless mode. PostHog does not set cookies or use local or session storage in your browser. To count visitors, PostHog creates a one-way, anonymous identifier on its servers from technical details of the visit, such as IP address, browser type, and site name, combined with a value that changes every day. PostHog states that the IP address is hashed and removed from the event before further processing. Because the identifier changes daily, we cannot follow an individual visitor from one day to the next, and we do not receive location data from this tool.
We review this data in aggregate to improve the site and to understand what is useful. PostHog processes this data on servers in the United States, and we keep it for as long as it remains useful for these purposes.
Hosting and cookies
This site is built and hosted on Squarespace. Squarespace processes visitor information, such as IP address and device details, in order to deliver and secure the site. It may set cookies that are necessary for the site to function, as well as cookies used for its own site analytics, which show us general traffic information such as page views and visitor counts. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Squarespace explains its practices in its own privacy policy.
If you contact us
If you email us or send a message through the site, we receive the information you choose to share, such as your name, email address, and message. We use it to respond to you and to follow up on any work we discuss. We keep it as long as needed for those purposes. We share it only with service providers that help us run the Lab (such as email and form tools), and only as needed for them to do so.
Our community list
We use a Google Form to collect interest from people who want to hear from the Lab. If you fill it out, we receive the information you enter, such as your email address, and use it to send periodic emails about the Lab’s work. Google processes the form responses on our behalf and handles them under its own privacy policy. You can ask to be removed from this list at any time by emailing us at the address below.
Links to other sites
This site links to other websites and services, including Notion, X (Twitter), and Creative Commons, and some pages embed videos from YouTube. When a video loads or plays, YouTube (Google) may set cookies or collect information about you. These sites and services have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (for example, in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or California), you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to correct or delete it, or to object to how it is used. Our analytics does not use identifiers that could single you out, so we generally cannot connect analytics data to a particular person. If you have contacted us and want to ask about that information, email us at the address below.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed.
